"Just Let Me Scrapbook!" opened in March 2006.
I opened my own little piece of scrapbook heaven to share my knowledge
of scrapbooking products and the many ways in which they can be used.
I've come to realize that I must share all these wonderful products with
others and quit hoarding them all for myself. (It's only fair!)
The love for scrapbooking is in my genes. I am very fortunate to have my
mother's scrapbooks that she put together in the 1930's. She went
beyond saving her photos by also saving lotion labels, dance cards,
Christmas tags and chewing gum wrappers (She even jotted down who
gave the gum to her and where they were at the time!). My father loved
photography and kept a complete photo journal of his WWII days. I
came along and added my creative talents to these other interests that
they both passed along to me and made my first scrapbook when I was
only eight years old (gulp! That was over 40 years ago!!).
Through the years, I developed a gift for teaching. I taught high school,
received the honor of "teacher of the year" and then took time off to get
sane! That was almost twenty years ago and I'm still trying to get sane
(wink, wink!). Meanwhile I kept two large and very active Girl Scout
troops going (one for each of my daughters). I couldn't squeeze in Boy
Scouts for our son so after receiving my 20-yearsrs-of-service pin, I
gave up the troop thing all together.
I am married to the Minister of Music at my church (I say "my" because
he has served for 21 years at the church I grew up going to!). I have
taught something in this church for longer than I care to remember but I
have finally settled on the first grade Sunday School class for the past
12 years. I have written down their hilarious remarks for years and
recently turned them into the funniest little scrapbook.
For the past almost six years, I've put my public teaching skills back to
work by instructing scrapbooking classes at local stores and attending
trade shows and classes around the country from many wonderful vendors
and very talented designers so that I can stay on top of new techniques
and products. I read all the idea books written by the "scrapbook
celeberties" to soak up all their wonderful creations and tips. I love to
put together layouts of my family that includes three children (and one
precious grandson), our travels, special family activities, everyday
happenings and any interesting or quirky facts about any of us. I won a
layout contest in Florida at the "Creating Keepsakes" convention. They
took my layout home with them and soon published it in their Mother's
Day issue. I haven't before or since taken the time to submit anymore of
my work. Just Let Me Scrapbook instead!
